Somerset Printmakers

Somerset Printmakers was formed 11 years ago. Its aim: to provide mutual support for professional printmakers in the county; to exhibit together (an early show was the first Bristol Impact Conference), and generally to make Printmaking more visible and valued in this most rural of counties.

Members also develop work on agreed themes. They are currently working on a book of original prints entitled ‘Reasons to be Cheerful’. Previous themes have included the poetry of Coleridge and Robert Frost.

Most of the artists have their own print studios; others use facilities such as Dove Studios in Butleigh, and Spike Island itself. Three members are RE’s.
