Tutors Martyn Grimmer
This course will deal with the making of photographic images that will be etched into copper plates by a safe acid. Initially you will learn how to manipulate the image so that it can be printed onto film, as well as plate making, and development in the darkroom. The plates can then be printed in experimental combinations of colour that give a beautiful range of tones and depth to the image. You will also learn how to print using accurate registration methods, and how to rework the plates by hand using traditional etching techniques. Some prior experience of etching would be desirable, but is not essential.
