A very rare opportunity to work with 2 experts in letterpress.Suitable for those with some experience in printmaking.

This workshop will teach the basics of letterpress printing on the Vandercook and Albion presses. You will learn how to design and set metal and wood type, and print editions incorporating text with lino- leum or woodcuts.

If you’re interested in doing large editions of single-color, multiple block, or reduction relief im- ages, or if you’re interested in incorporating text into your relief or screenprints, this is the workshop for you! You can bring your own lino or woodcut to print.

Letterpress is a versatile process with a distinctive look that can print on a huge range of materials from paper & card to t-shirts, paper bags, or beermats and artists’ books. alex@press817.com

As part of her MA Print practice at UWE, Kerry Day invited artists to take part in The Micro Art Project. 41 Artists from UWE, Spike Print Studio and invited guests,  produced artworks in print on a paper size no larger than 10cm x 10cm.  The prints encompass a broad range of techniques  including 3D and collage. The project was supported by Spike Print Studio and was showcased at Spike Island Open Studios in May 2010. The exhibition was a great success and Spike Print Studio has been invited to exhibit at  the Berkeley Square Hotel from 21 July to 30 September.  Unframed prints will be available at the reception.

Spike Print Studio presents a curated exhibition based on surface patterns. Our world is full of shapes which combine to form repeat patterns, ranging from simple structures to perceptual struggles. Spike Print Studio shows that through drawing and use of colour or imagery, pattern can be innovative and interpretive.
