Tuesdays 14 Jan – 24 March 2020
Gail Mason and Irena Czapska
Two tutors show you how to hone your skills in screen printing and develop your work. This course will allow you to get a thorough grounding in all aspects of screenprinting with emphasis on good studio practice. From this base, you will be encouraged to develop your personal project into editions or one off works of art. You will be shown various screenprinting techniques; paper and photographic stencils making, monoprinting, reversals and digital mark making , which can be used towards this end.
This course is suitable for those who have some experience or wish to refresh skills.
Gail Mason has been teaching screen printing and oil based printmaking processes at Spike Print Studio since 2011, building on 13 years of teaching oil and water based printmaking at degree level in conjunction with Bath Spa University. Widely exhibited, she is a multi award-winning artist, and her work is held in collections worldwide.
SPS Studio Director Irena Czapska’s work is an ongoing and long term unpicking of inchoate and contradicting notions investigating self image in relation to ageing She is particularly interested in how cultural notions of beauty develop and how we find ourselves in a digital world that renders the beautiful self as unattainable but supposedly within reach.
