Discover the creative possibilities of repeat pattern and learn how to screen print your own design onto fabric in this immersive two-day course with textile printmaker Emma Studd.

This hands-on workshop focuses on designing and printing a repeat spot pattern for fabric. You’ll be guided through the full process — from developing an idea or theme, to creating a repeat design, preparing a screen, and printing onto fabric using professional screen printing techniques.

You’ll learn how to:

Translate your ideas into a repeat spot design.
Design a simple repeat pattern.
Prepare a screen for printing.
Create a stencil using photographic screen printing processes.
Print confidently onto fabric.

By the end of the course, you will have printed a 50cm x 150cm length of fabric to take home — perfect for making a cushion, lampshade,bag, or other small textile project. You’re encouraged to bring your own ideas, imagery, or a theme to work from.

Whether you’re new to screen printing or looking to build on existing skills, Emma will support you step by step through the process.

Emma Studd is a highly experienced tutor and leads our popular Year in Textiles Printmaking course. Her clear teaching style and knowledge of textile printing make this an inspiring and confidence-building introduction to printing on fabric.
