5 week Mixed Media in Printmaking - Collagraph

£ 232

A 5-week course that will introduce you to new possibilities in printmaking.

Creating collagraph plates is a fun, expressive and unpredictable printmaking technique. It is an experimental form of printmaking which involves adding layers of adhesive and solid materials like string, card and textiles to the surface of a printing plate - making it possible to incorporate both relief and intaglio printmaking inking methods on a single plate.

The focus will be on exploring plaster and carborundum, materials which can add a sculptural element to the printmaking outcome. The contrasting textures that can be achieved are limited only by imagination!  You will learn about different methods of inking plates, such as ‘a la poupee’, where lovely variations in tone and colour can be achieved.

Your tutor, Iva will work with you to problem solve techniques or processes you may wish to address. You will leave with several plates and lots of prints.

This course is suitable for beginners as well as for experienced printmakers who would like to explore the use of mixed-media.

Iva (Ivana Svabic-Cannon) is an experienced printmaker/illustrator and a qualified art teacher. She has exhibited widely in the UK and abroad and has been a member of Spike Print Studio since 2000. You can find more about her work on Instagram here.
