HALF TERM WORKSHOP Introduction to Letterpress

£ 93

This one day introduction to letterpress introduces you to the pre-computer craft of letterpress type. In this workshop you will learn how to make small typographic compositions and print them on the Vandercook 232P and Adana 8x5 presses.

In this workshop you will learn how to handle and set lead type, be shown where the best type is, to print it, to clean it, store the form you have made for future reuse, and how to put it away afterwards.

You can create business cards, postcards, art pieces and more using the metal type and ornamental type in letterpress corner. You can also bring along artwork on paper (e.g. Somerset) to print onto. There will be a variety of paper and card provided to print onto.

You will gain confidence and skills using the letterpress type and presses. It is useful but not essential to have previous letterpress experience.
